yourtown is one of the leading Not for Profit organisation's in mental health support and Employment Services and is currently in its evolution to expand its services across Australia!

As an established Employment Service provider in South East Queensland, we are now looking to expand our portfolio to deliver Transition to Work in Hervey Bay! The Transition to Work service provides intensive, pre-employment support to young people aged 15-24 to help improve their work-readiness and help them into work or further education!

We have an exciting Youth Worker positions available at Hervey Bay!

1 x Permanent Full time

As a Youth Worker – Work Readiness you will work with the young people using client centred, strengths based practice to help them work through their non-vocational challenges to employment. Your days will be diverse but in essence will include:

  • Working in collaboration with the job seeker to goal set to address non-vocational barriers;
  • Undertaking individual assessments and providing referrals to specialist assistance services;
  • Case conferencing with the Job Placement Coaches to ensure a unified approach;
  • Challenging the status quo and advocating for the young person;
  • Delivering workshops – life skills, employability and non-vocational to increase work readiness.
  • Actively engage in the Community and build and maintain a network of Community contacts

About you:

  • Certificate IV level qualification in Youth work or a relevant discipline and a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role OR a minimum of 4 years experience in youth work for highly disadvantaged young people with an employment/ case management focus;
  • A solid understanding of the local labour market as well as the barriers faced by disadvantaged young people;
  • Proven ability to deliver workshops and group facilitation processes;
  • Proficient skills in using technology and systems; our compliance requirements are high and your administration needs to be on par with this.
