yourtown delivers the Youthful Offenders Program (Kicking Habits) across Arthur Gorrie, Borallon, Wolston, Brisbane Women’s and Southern Queensland Correctional Centres.

The Youthful Offenders Program is a harm-reduction based program which works with young offenders aged 18-25 years to minimise risk factors that influence AOD misuse and reoffending, enhance protective factors and contribute to improvements in wellbeing and interpersonal skills.

The Coordinator will assist the therapeutic case management team to deliver, high quality therapeutic case management and co-facilitated workshops; assessment of program participants; and support to participants including preventative strategies. Every day will be highly varied and challenging however your key responsibilities will include:

  • providing day-to-day supervision of team members and support the delivery of responses to group participants in line with yourtown’s strength based, person centred framework.
  • ensuring the program achieves funded deliverables and participate actively and collaboratively with key stakeholders to meet the aims of the Youthful Offenders Program.

This is a Part Time (4 days per week) fixed term position until June 2022
Based in Milton this role works across SE Qld Correctional Centres with some flexibility to work from home

About you:

  • You will have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social or Behavioural Sciences and a minimum of four years case management experience with young people and families, and two years experience as a senior worker in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in evidence based AOD interventions, assessment and therapeutic evaluations and capacity to provide flexible, individualised and culturally appropriate responses to young people are essential.
  • Experience working in a correctional facility or detention centre, or with ex-offenders in the community, will be highly regarded.
  • You will display a high level of commitment to the principles of youth and family centred practice, empowerment and confidentiality and have experience networking across both the community and government sectors.
