The Early Childhood Development (ECD) program works with young parents to support vulnerable pre-school aged children reach physical, emotional, cognitive, and social developmental milestones, and transition to school successfully. It is a free service with which clients engage voluntarily. Individual support is delivered within yourtown’s Case Management Framework, which works with the parent/caregiver, family and/or child to systematically identify need through assessment, and through setting and reviewing goals.
About the role
Working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, the Intensive Family Practitioner, provides assessment and coordinates support to parents/caregivers and their children to improve the child's development and wellbeing and support a successful transition to school. You will:• Undertake assessment, develop and manage a collaborative case plan• Participate in a range of supports offered to parents/caregivers and their children including on site, outreach and referrals• Complete risk assessments and develop risk management plans• Develop and maintain positive partnerships with external organisations
For the right candidate, we will consider either fulltime or parttime engagement.
You will have extensive experience working with families experiencing issues of family and domestic violence, mental health, drug and alcohol, or other significant child protection concerns.
In addition to this you also possess:
• Bachelor level qualifications in Social, Community or Behavioural Sciences and casework experience working with families with complex needs• Demonstrated ability to assess and manage risk in relation to child safety, including identifying and addressing any concerns • High level of interpersonal and written skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and engage with children and young people and their families from diverse backgrounds• Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as ability to work independently• Ability to work under pressure and highly developed planning and time management skills
