Our goal in Social Enterprises is to equip disadvantaged marginalised young people with holistic training, mentoring whilst developing relevant skills and experience to help support them into sustainable employment. This experience is further supported with wrap around youth work and practical trade support provided from qualified youth workers and Trade Supervisors who work on commercial contracts with our young trainees!

We have an exciting new role for a dynamic Youth Worker to join our Social Enterprises team in Bridgewater – Tasmania!

The Role

As the Youth Worker you will work with young people (15-25) using a client centred, strengths-based approach in helping them work through their non-vocational challenges to employment and support them to overcome barriers. As part of a support team you will provide tailored, individualised support with the end goal of achieving sustainable outcomes for our young people!

Your days will be diverse but in essence, can include;

  • Conducting intake and psychosocial appointments for new members;
  • Undertaking individual assessments and providing referrals to specialist assistance services;
  • Developing case plans and providing employment case management;
  • Assessing and managing risk and providing crisis intervention in collaboration with our support systems
  • Challenging the status quo and advocating for the young person.
  • Travelling to work sites when required to provide support and assistance to young people
  • Helping to develop, with the team tailored pathways for our trainees.
  • Networking and conducting outreach work to integrate with community programs.
  • Embracing a positive team environment that embodies a growth mindset

This role will be based in Bridgewater - Tasmania and is a 4 day per week permanent position

Remuneration for this role commences at $78,361 per annum + 10.5% Superannuation + $15,990 salary packaging 

About you

You are approachable and easily build rapport with young people. You understand that persistence is key and you follow through on what you commit to. Your practice is client focussed, our young people are at the heart of it and you understand that they are the experts in their own lives. Above all you are passionate – this is your career – a choice you make every day!

In addition, you also possess;

  • A Certificate IV in Allied Health, Behavioural Sciences, Social Work or similar coupled with demonstrated experience youth work in the context of case management of highly disadvantaged young people;
  • A solid understanding of the local labour market as well as the barriers faced by long term, unemployed  young people;
  • Proficient skills in using technology and systems; our compliance requirements are high and your administration needs to be on par with this.
