We are excited to deliver a pilot program to address a critical gap in mental health service provision for children under 12 years in the Bayside and Redlands corridor. This 12 month pilot program seeks to fill this gap by delivering accessible, therapeutic mental health support for children under 12, with a strong emphasis on early intervention and family involvement.

Based at Capalaba and working with the Family Support Services team, this role has responsibility for managing the day-to-day coordination and clinical leadership of a small team of Mental Health Clinicians who provide evidence based, child centred and family focussed psychological therapies for children aged 0-12 years with moderate to severe mental illness.

Your role will include:

• ensure the delivery of quality evidence based mental health services that enhance the lives of children 0-12 yrs experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges and their families
• lead and manage the Child Mental Health Program in the Bayside and Redland City region
• referral, intake and allocation processes and waitlist management
• carry a small clinical caseload
• undertake effective critical decision making to ensure the safeguarding of children and families
• program administration, reporting, compliance and continuous improvement
• develop and maintain community networks and contractual relationships

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a reputable service that has a range of programs in the child and family space, and is well connected with the community.

The program is delivered within a stepped care approach and works in an integrated and collaborative manner with wraparound supports. It is provided on site and via outreach.

This position will be appointed on a 12 month maximum term contract, in line with the pilot program funding.

what we are looking for

We are seeking a passionate, professional leader who wants to make a difference by delivering a pilot program aiming to improve earlier access and management of mental health concerns, enhance child and family wellbeing and prevent escalation to more complex or intensive service needs. You will be a registered Psychologist, Accredited Mental Health Occupational Therapist, or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.

You will bring:

• passion, commitment and belief in young people
• registration with Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA) that meets the relevant National Board’s registration standard ie Psychology Board of Australia or Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Mental Health Occupational Therapists will also need to meet the Australian Competency Standards for Occupational Therapists in Mental Health. Mental Health Social Workers are required to be members of the Australian Association of Social Workers and meet the Practice Standards for Mental Health Social Workers
• minimum of 4 years’ experience providing psychological therapies for children and their families
• demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve program goals and performance targets
• experience supervising therapeutic practice, managing performance and fostering a culture of ongoing development
• experience in coordinating programs including administration tasks, managing budgets and monitoring contracts
• demonstrated skills in clinical assessment, case planning, delivery of therapies and capacity to provide culturally appropriate psychological responses
• demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders
