the program
As an established Employment Service provider in Australia, we are looking for an engaging and experienced Employment Mentor to join our Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) team. This program is based at Riverview.
your opportunity
As part of a support team, you will provide individually tailored training and employment case management to a group of young people and will be responsible for the recruitment and engagement of program participants, including the completion of their training and transition into employment, as well as post-placement support to assist young people to achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
Your days will be diverse but in essence, can include:
• recruiting suitable participants through marketing the program and conducting promotional activities in the community to source referrals
• developing, delivering, and facilitating employability skills workshops
• undertaking comprehensive individual assessments and providing subsequent work readiness support or referrals to specialist assistance services
• developing case plans and providing employment, education and training case management
• actively promote and place young people into employment vacancies and opportunities appropriate to their abilities and interests
• providing post placement support to young people and the employer
what we are looking for
• a minimum Certificate IV Level qualification in Community Services or relevant experience in a similar role
• strong communication and interpersonal skills and a flair for networking will see you build relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including client cohorts, government, community, and business groups
• a solid understanding of the local labour market and barriers faced by unemployed young people
• proven ability to engage and motivate young people and ability to work with culturally diverse cohorts
• proven skills in delivering group workshops and activities
• proficient skills in using technology and systems; our compliance requirements are high, and your administration needs to be on par with this
