We are looking for a skilled Grounds Maintenance Leading Hand to lead and mentor a team of young trainees (15-25 years) in our grounds maintenance crew! You will be working on commercial contracts with our young trainees undertaking projects such as mowing, mulching, weeding, soft landscaping etc.  You will be outside on the tools, training and working alongside your team and sharing your skills and experience, Monday - Friday! 

You will have full access to a company vehicle, phone, laptop, trade tools, and workwear! 

In this role you will:

  • Manage and mentor trainees.
  • Multitask and problem-solve daily.
  • Be extremely motivated and encouraging.
  • Approachable by trainees and customers.
  • Ability to liaise with all customers.
  • Ability to work with young people and overcome training barriers.
  • Background in ground maintenance and/or trades.
  • Be OHS Savy.
  • Have the skills and experience to be on the tools alongside our young people. 

Projects will include:

  • Garden maintenance.
  • Grass cutting and vegetation management.
  • Graffiti removal and outdoor cleaning services.
  • Ground clean-up.
  • Building and repairing fences.
  • Building retaining walls.

This is a full time, contract role until June 2022 (Monday - Friday) – with potential to extend! Based in Kingston.

The end goal is to develop and build the young person’s capacity for workforce participation, so that they are able to secure and sustain employment in the open labour market.
