Partnering with the NSW Government, the Youth Employment Social Impact Program (YESIP) has been established to help address youth unemployment and support young people with complex barriers to develop work readiness skills and find and sustain employment.

As the Employment Mentor, you will work with young people (aged 16-24) using strength-based case management and life skills development framework to identify pathways into being ready, willing, and able to secure long-term sustainable employment.

In addition to this you will:

  • Provide the client with mentoring and support to help them improve their workplace skills, practical issues, or resolving workplace problems.
  • Work collaboratively to deliver quality services that aim to secure employment, vocational and/or education outcomes while enhancing the lives of young people.
  • Recruit suitable participants to the (YESIP) through marketing the program, networking with youth community organisations and job agencies
  • Provide mentoring and advice on career pathways and vocational training
  • Develop, facilitate, and evaluate individual and group workshops.
  • Maintain client records, data and any other relevant documentation within the relevant systems and in line with yourtown’s practices.

 

About you:

  • Certificate IV level qualification in a relevant field (e.g Community Services) or a minimum of four (4) years' experience in the engagement and mentoring of unemployed young people who experience high levels of disadvantage.
  • Proven interpersonal skills to build rapport with and motivate young people.
  • High level of oral and written communication/negotiations skills.
  • Solid understanding of the impact of long-term unemployment on young people, the barriers to employment, and successful experience in implementing strategies to overcome these challenges.
  • High level of organisational skills and the capacity to achieve quality outcomes within time and resource constraints.

This role will be based in St Mary’s on a permanent basis.
