What does an Employment Mentor do at yourtown?

As the Employment Mentor you will work with the young people using a client centred, strengths-based approach in helping them work through their complex, vocational barriers to employment. Part of a dual support team with the Pathways Coach, you will provide in-depth intensive case management to a caseload of 25 young people.

This role works within your job your way which is designed to assist long term unemployed young people to build their employability skills and assist them to gain sustainable employment. Focusing on young people aged 15 - 24 the program delivers a suite of strategies designed to build on a young person's capacity for workforce participation.

Your days will be diverse but in essence will include;

  • Completing intake assessments with the job seeker to determine work readiness;
  • Working in collaboration with the job seeker to goal set;
  • Connecting with relevant community organisations to support work readiness;
  • Job matching, cold calling and reverse marketing the job seeker to employers;
  • Networking face to face and building rapport with employers to build an employer pipeline.

This role will be based in Devonport but will also service Burnie for a maternity leave cover until January 2022.

Remuneration for this role commences at $66,196 per annum + 9.50% Superannuation + salary packaging.

You also have strong experience in the engagement and mentoring of unemployed young people who experience high levels of disadvantage.

You have a solid understanding of the local labour market and enjoy working in a small but dynamic team! Our compliance requirements are strict, but you are well versed in administration and can keep on top of this without an issue.

You love meeting different people and enjoy the fact that this role enables you to be out and about and face to face with employers. You understand the importance of building rapport face to face with employers so that you can partner with their business and provide solutions.
