Reporting to the Advocacy, Research, and Innovation Manager, the Senior Advocacy Officer will contribute and support the Advocacy and Policy services across yourtowns. You will:

  • Support the collation and reporting on social and economic policy impacting yourtowns services.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement processes to inform yourtown’s advocacy agenda.
  • Collate and analyse evidence from a range of sources to inform planning and operational decisions.
  • Support the development of strategic policy, advocacy, and position statement on advocacy issues.
  • Drive the communication and advocacy of yourtowns policy and strategic direction.
  • Provide evidence-informed input into funding submission.
  • Support the development of positive team culture.

Role requirements:

  • Bachelor level degree in relevant field or experience in similar position.
  • Highly developed writing skills including the ability to present complex and technical information in a simple and clear manner, and tailor written material to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of policy development, particularly in relation to social issues relating to children, young people and families.
  • Strong understanding and ability to engage in a range of evidence gathering and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Excellent judgement and demonstrated ability to uphold and live the values of yourtown.
