Supportive team environment, values based organisation
At yourtown, we believe every young person has the right to a brighter future and aim to be part of the solution by delivering services that get results. Our services include Kids Helpline, training and employment services for young people, parent education and specialist accommodation for families. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of services for young people in Australia with sites across Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania. The community with yourtown's Art Unions funds most of what we do. At yourtown you will be part of the solution.
jobactive is one of the programs offered by yourtown, and operates nationally working with marginalised young people up to 30 years of age. Everything we do is focused on sustainable employment outcomes for young people in a strengths based and outcome focused business model.
As the Employment Youth Worker, you will work with young people in pre-employment and group based activities as well as post placement mentoring. Using a client centred strengths based case management model you will help participants overcome non vocational challenges to employment with the aim of assisting them to gain and sustain employment. This can include crisis intervention, advocating for participants; referral for specialist assistance, developing individual case plans and employment case management, as well as assistance with practical supports.
You will have a Bachelor degree in Allied Health, Behavioural Sciences, Social Work, Counselling or other Allied health degree (this is a funding requirement), and experience in the provision of case work services for highly disadvantaged young people. You will have proven ability to build rapport with and motivate young people; along with a good understanding of the local labour market, barriers to employment and underlying issues faced by disadvantaged young people.
You will need to demonstrate innovation, creativity and flexibility in your approach. You will have strong networking skills and proven capacity to achieve effective outcomes for disadvantaged and at risk youth. You will have high level communication and administrative skills, including program and workshop delivery skills. You will need to be comfortable working in an outcome focussed environment, with targets around employment outcomes. Above all, you need to be passionate about helping vulnerable young people achieve a brighter future.
