Based in an idyllic rural setting in North Richmond, San Miguel family residential service provides intensive, individualised support to vulnerable young parents and their children. San Miguel is a unique service that plays a critical role in keeping children safe and well and keeping young families together. Parents and children receive support from a multi-disciplinary team through a combination of on-site and community based interventions that ensure children are engaged in safe, developmentally appropriate activities and their parents are supported to set and pursue family and personal goals.

In this newly created role, the Client Services Manager will manage quality client practice that incorporates case work, therapeutic responses and child development. You will manage the day to day operations of the client practice team to ensure that young people and their children's needs are met. You will support staff to deliver services that are client centred, strengths based, outcome focussed, trauma informed, professional and aligned with child safe and vulnerable adult requirements, and create opportunities for change in the lives of children, young people and their families.

You will provide strong practice leadership and extensive knowledge of child protection and case management. Your extensive experience working with young people and families within similar a complex environment, along with your ability to assess and manage risk will allow you to grow the team's knowledge and skills and create a supportive environment that improves the safety, wellbeing and life prospects of young parents and their children. You will have broad knowledge of relevant theories, frameworks and legislation and experience in successfully leading and managing a team to achieve high quality client outcomes. Domestic and Family Violence Counsellor

Our Domestic and Family Violence Refuge is a welcoming haven for women and their children who have experienced the trauma of domestic/family violence. All refuge staff work towards assisting families to regain independence & safety following domestic and family violence.

As the Domestic and Family Violence Counsellor, you will work from a strengths based, trauma informed case management model to provide counselling interventions and referrals to women who are accommodated at our refuge. You will also facilitate workshops and support the development of workshops. This role also provides outreach support, via telephone which involves following up residents who have exited and external services to ensure the women are receiving the support they need and providing court support when required. You will work closely with the Child and Family Counsellor and will participate in collaborative case reviews as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This is a permanent part time position, 4 days per week.

About you

You will have Bachelor level qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling and a minimum of 3 years' experience working within a trauma informed framework. You will have demonstrated understanding of Domestic and Family Violence and how it can impact on a person's trauma response. You will have experience working with groups and an understanding of group dynamics and learning styles. You will demonstrate a strong knowledge of current evidence-based practice, programs, policies, legislation and trends relevant to domestic/family violence issues and possess excellent communication, conflict resolution and report writing skills.

About you:

Reporting to the CEO, you will lead yourtown’s advocacy and research agenda including the evaluation of programs and services. Our research agenda is guided by the emerging needs of the children, young people and families we work with.

To be considered for this opportunity you will possess the following:

University level qualifications in a human services or relevant discipline with extensive senior management experience
Demonstrated understanding of contemporary research practice
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels
Demonstrated experience in leading a high performing multidisciplinary team
Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills to both internal and external stakeholders including presenting at conferences and engaging with media
Ability to represent yourtown in government and public enquiries on issues relating to the needs of children and young people
Experience in leading research initiatives to identify new ways of breaking cycles of disadvantage for children and young people, including through the use of technology
Demonstrated senior management experience including preparation of reports and budgets.

yourtown operates the nationally acclaimed Kids Helpline, which is Australia's only free, private and confidential, telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in an iconic service that provides essential support to children and young people across Australia.

The Practice Unit motivates and inspires the quality of client practice across yourtown client services through practice supervision and support. As Senior Practice Supervisor you will provide professional practice supervision, specialist advice and expert knowledge of best practice in client service delivery. You will work with yourtown staff delivering direct client services to assist them to work within our Client Practice Framework and support the development of case management and risk assessment skills. You will be mainly working with Kids Helpline Counsellors, however may also work with a range of workers across our other programs. The scope of work includes individual, team and group supervision; contributing to programs and services through providing specialist advice; providing a professional consultancy and support role to crisis response and critical incidents, and promoting and contributing to culturally sensitive, child, youth and family centred, safe practices.

You will need:

University level qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling; registration as a Psychologist is desirable
Demonstrated professional knowledge and experience in the application of effective counselling and other human services models, processes, theories and techniques
Demonstrated experience in case management and the provision of professional practice supervision and professional development of practitioners
Demonstrated understanding of Child Protection Legislation, Child Development and commitment to child, youth and family centred, trauma informed and inclusive practice
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and establish and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders
Ability to respond to on-call 24 hour Duty of Care consultations on a 6 - 8 weekly rotation roster

Expressive Therapist

Based at Deception Bay (QLD), the Expressive Therapist will provide therapeutic responses with children and young people (aged 0-18 years) who have witnessed or experienced domestic/family violence and are experiencing developmental trauma as a result. You will also work with 0-8 year olds utilising expressive therapy and providing Filial Therapy and Family Therapy, who have been referred from other yourtown programs. You will utilise a variety of modalities, including counselling, creative and expressive therapy within a trauma informed, strengths based framework.

About you:

You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and at least 3 years' experience using expressive therapies, including delivering therapeutic responses to children and/or young people who have experienced Domestic and Family Violence. You will be registered, or eligible for registration, with a relevant professional association, such as ANZACATA. You will demonstrate knowledge of child centred practice, empowerment and confidentiality and will have a good understanding of attachment, development and trauma.

Kids Helpline is Australia’s only free, private and confidential 24/7 counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25. Since 1991, Australia’s kids and young people have been turning to our professional, specialised counsellors, no matter who they are, where they live or what they want to talk about. For some young people, connecting with Kids Helpline has been a life-saving experience, while for others it’s about practical help and emotional support at the critical moment they need someone to listen.

We are excited to announce that we are opening a new Kids Helpline service in Western Sydney. To support our new service, we are recruiting a Kids Helpline Service Manager to manage the day to day operations, ranging from monitoring and reporting on financial performance to providing direct line management and supervision to a team of Supervisors. You will also play a pivotal role in consulting with internal stakeholders on all aspects of crisis response and case coordination for Counsellors.

We are looking for applicants who genuinely want to make a difference in the lives of children and young people. You will possess a Bachelor Degree in psychology, social work or counselling and have extensive experience in managing a team of counsellors. You will have strong leadership skills with a strong balance between operational and strategic experience.

Your role as the Kids Helpline Service Manager is a permanent full time position of 38 standard business hours per week. To support you in your new role you will receive two weeks’ induction training in Brisbane commencing 23rd March 2020 which is essential for the successful candidate to attend.
