Our services include Kids Helpline, training and employment services for young people, parent education and specialist accommodation for families. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of services for young people in Australia with sites across Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania. This is a unique opportunity to influence social change and to positively impact the lives of children and young people through our in-house advocacy and research department.

Reporting to the CEO, you will lead yourtown’s advocacy and research agenda including the evaluation of programs and services.  Our research agenda is guided by the emerging needs of the children, young people and families we work with.

 To be considered for this opportunity you will possess the following:

  • University level qualifications in a human services or relevant discipline with extensive senior management experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary research practice
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a high performing multidisciplinary team
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills to both internal and external stakeholders including presenting at conferences and engaging with media
  • Ability to represent yourtown in government and public enquiries on issues relating to the needs of children and young people
  • Experience in leading research initiatives to identify new ways of breaking cycles of disadvantage for children and young people, including through the use of technology
  • Demonstrated senior management experience including preparation of reports and budgets.
